My Life with Epilepsy
Hi ! My name is Mary Kate. I am twelve years old. I have epilepsy. The worst part about epilepsy is having to take medication because it tastes terrible.UGH !!  I cannot swallow a pill so I have to take sprinkles with pudding twice a day. I often forget to take my meds or I argue with my mom or dad about having to take it. Do you hate to take meds? I would like to know.

Living with epilepsy is not that bad. One thing that I have to do is leave the school building when we have fire drills at school because the flashing lights can make me go into a seizure. But that's OK. I cannot head the ball when I play soccer, but I don't like head balls anyway.

My friends know that I have epilepsy and they are cool with it. My doctors name is Dr. Solomon. She is in New York City. I really like her. She is a neat lady. She always asks me all kinds of questions. I have to visit her every couple months. I also have EEG's and MRI's every so often. I like going into the city because after I go to the hospital I get to go out to eat with my mom and dad to a really nice restaurant.

I love sports.  The sports I play are soccer, basketball, track & field and I also dance. I like school very much. but it is hard for me. It is fun to see my friends everyday at school. Living with epilepsy is not so bad but some other kids my age have it really bad. My seizures are OK if I take my medicine.
If you would like to take about epilepsy or anything you can e-mail me at www.ceasechildhoodepilepsy.org  I will be sure to e-mail you back.

I hope to hear from you.
